Active Release Techniques (ART): Lower Extremity Level 1

Lower Extremity Level 1 is eligible for 15 contact hours.

Continuing education (CE) credit for Chiropractors in attendance of ART seminars is administered by the Northeast College of Health Sciences (Northeast College). License Renewal: While applications relating to credit hours for license renewal in selected states have been executed for these programs, it remains attendees’ responsibility to contact the state board(s) from whom they seek continuing education credits for purposes of ensuring said board(s) approve both venue and content as they relate to any seminar/course/lecture/webinar/online presentation (event). Neither a speaker’s or exhibitor’s presence at said event, nor product mention or display, shall in any way constitute Northeast College endorsement. • Recite the four basic components of ART treatment protocols.


• Recognize common symptom patterns of lower extremity neuromuscular injuries and disorders.

• Palpate 62 anatomical soft-tissue structures within the lower extremity, using an appropriate tension, depth, and motion to properly perform the treatment protocol.

• Instruct a patient to perform concentric and eccentric muscle contractions.


• Compare healthy and unhealthy tissue utilizing hands-on palpation techniques.


• Identify a muscle or soft tissue that is not contracting properly through palpation and patient assessment.


• Properly select treatment protocols which help to reduce pain, improve ROM, and restore function for a patient/client to return to ADL, sport, or other desired activity outcome.

Prerequisites:
Eligible healthcare professional license or a student enrolled in a program resulting in such license (Doctor of Chiropractic, Physical Therapist/Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapist/Occupational Therapy Assistant, Athletic Trainer/Therapist, Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse, Medical/Osteopathic Doctor, Physiotherapist, Massage Therapist, Acupuncturist, Podiatrist).

Seminar Schedule
ART Seminars consist of 80% or more hands-on practice and training, with attendees receiving immediate feedback from instructors and other attendees.

Day 1 & Day 2:

• 8:00 AM-12:00 PM: Protocol Review
• 1:00 PM-5:00 PM: Protocol Review

Day 3:

• 7:30 AM-12:00 PM: Testing

Seminar Completion:
All attendees must be present for the full instructional portion (15 contact hours) and pass both the written pre-credentialing exam and in-person practical exam to successfully complete the seminar.

ARTMan can be linked with the Visible Body Suite App (separate purchase) for more in-depth study. ARTMan is exclusively available to active ART Certified Providers.
• Paper Manual: Optional paper manual. (Free for attendees registering as New Certification/Student. Available as an additional purchase for Recertification attendees.)

Appropriate attire:

• Most of our seminars consist of hands-on practice on attendees. Wear clothing which allows for ease of movement so that fellow attendees may easily palpate and practice protocols on you. Athletic attire, shorts, yoga pants, t-shirts, joggers, athletic polo shirts and tops are most appropriate.

Testing:

• Recertification attendees will test on Friday and Saturday during the seminar on six protocols at a time determined by the instructor. With rare exceptions, all recertification testing will be completed by 5:00 PM on Saturday.
• New Certification attendees (including Students) will test on six protocols on Sunday morning beginning at 7:30 AM. Each test will take no more than 15 minutes. Attendees should plan to arrive no less than 15 minutes before their scheduled practical test and may leave as soon as they complete their exam. (Testing may end as late as 12:00 PM. Please plan accordingly).

Miscellaneous:

• Portable tables: At most seminars outside of Colorado Springs, we ask that attendees bring a portable table, if possible. As a token of our appreciation, attendees that bring a table will receive a $50 credit toward a future seminar and be entered into a drawing for $500 off their next seminar. Look for more information in our post-registration emails.
